Apply First Aid - 1 day (HLTFA301B)
 
The one day, Apply First Aid course enables participants to achieve the same qualification as a two day course, but minimises the amount of time they need to spend in the classroom. In order to do so, you are required to complete a course manual prior to your course. This will involve some pre-course reading and the completion of theory revision questions.  Participants should allow approximately 6 hours to complete this pre-reading.

  • DRABCD procedure
  • Principles of First Aid
  • Responding to an emergency
  • Assessment for unconsciousness

  • Treatment of Illnesses
  • Bites and Stings
  • Cardiac emergencies 
  • Bleeding and Wounds
  • Dressings and bandages
  • Exposure to heat and cold
  • Burns and scalds
  • Poisoning
  • Reporting of accidents
  • Spinal Injuries
Assessment: During the day of the course you are required to successfully complete a theory assessment and various practical assessments including CPR, bandaging.

Outcome: On successfully completing the Apply First Aid training course, candidates will receive the following awards:
  • Apply First Aid certificate
  • Resuscitation certificate
  • Statement of Attainment that includes the following unit of competence (HLTFA301B) from the Health Training Package

  • 1 form of Photo ID (i.e. Passport, Drivers licence, Photo ID card, Student card)
